...new idea. Have been drawn recently to the idea of parellell universe and quantum physics, becuase it reminds me of the idea of interaction between non linear narratives in animation, as I have demonstratede in previous posts. Have been questiong whether I'm going to far off subject by thinking about it though. Now I'm reassured that it's okay to let the mind wander, because that idea has lead to the discovery of an article about 'Mental Time Travel'. The articlke is about how seeing something from our opast can trigger brainwaves that we have experienced in the past, essentially, we re-live the past in our brain. I think this would be a great idea for an interactive exhibit. The creation of something that produces a user to time travel in their own thoughts.
(This is not my 'idea', just ONE of MANY....I'm still researching!)

Hey! On reading your post on mentle time travel i immediately thought of "The Teachings of Don Juan" by Carlos Castenada. Shamans all over the world (Don Juan is Mexican) smoke Peyote and other natural hallucinagenics to have out of body experiences and potentially travel time and space mentally. Perhaps a little off tangent but maybe good for some background research.
I've seen an example of that in Lost. I'll have a look at the text, thanks.
In the recent video game Assassin's Creed, you play the role of Desmond, who is being used in an experiment to unlock past memories. I mean like, waaaaay past. Memories in his genetics that date back to the crusades in the holy land circa 1175. I finished the story only last week, and while it wasn't the greatest game in the world, it did something very new in terms of narrative. New to me, at least. Take a peek at the wiki:

I've just had a chat with ALICE - my god what a petulant robotic witch she truly is. It was exercise in frustration. I can't believe that in 11 years online she has grown so very little.
As for my robot - it's not a robot. It's me. With a mic. I'm using my background in performance to interact with user and think on my feet in terms of the questions the user will ask me. If we were to stray to far off topic, I'll just state that I can't answer, or that I want to get back to the matter at hand. But yeah, I want the user to feel that they have a good level of control over what is happening. I want their role to be integral to what happens next in the story. For example, the user might decide that they want to help fix the robot and help him return to his reality to destroy his evil creator. Or they might decide to not help the robot and stamp out his existence there and then. I'll put up some more potential dialogues in my blog at some stage. thanks for your continued interest!
I was wasnt going to mention this but Colin already mentioned a game so there is another game that might not exactly fit what your planning to do but it is something similar.

It involves you entering other peoples minds and exploring their mental worlds to figure out the mystery in the end. I know your not thinking of making a game but might be worth exploring.
I will say that I like that idea of reliving the past threw triggered brain waves. Will be interesting to see what you end up with. Reminds me a deja vu, tho I have heard before that deja vu is the slower half of your brain catching up with ur dominant half and hence why we think we have seen it before. A bit useless of information but there u go.
Psychonauts sounds really interesting. I'll definately check that out in more detail over the weekend. Even if I don't do a game, any interaction is good research, thanks.
